Don't throw it away! Simple ideas for cardboard rolls

What do you do when the toilet paper is gone? Most people throw the empty brown tube in the trash. But wait! That empty cardboard roll is not garbage. It can be a very useful thing. With a little imagination, you can turn these simple tubes into fun toys, helpful tools for your garden, and smart organizers for your home. Before you throw it away next time, think about these easy and fun ideas.

One of the best ways to use toilet paper rolls is for kids' crafts. They are safe, easy to cut, and simple to paint. You can make a pair of binoculars for a young explorer. Just take two rolls, stick them together, and add a string. Now your child can go on an adventure! You can also create a whole zoo of animals. With some paint, paper, and googly eyes, a roll can become an owl, an octopus, or a snake. You can also stand them up and decorate them to look like towers for a small toy castle.

Empty rolls are also great for your garden. If you like to grow plants from seeds, these tubes are perfect. Especially when small plants should be developing and it is still too cold outside for them at night. You can fill a roll with soil and plant your seed inside. It becomes a small, personal pot for your new plant. The best part is that the cardboard is biodegradable. This means it will break down in the soil over time. When your plant is big enough, you can put the whole roll directly into the ground. It is easy and good for the earth.

You can also use these tubes to organize your house. Do you have many cables for your phone, computer, and other electronics? They can get tangled and messy. Just fold your cable neatly and slide it inside an empty toilet paper roll. It keeps them tidy and easy to find. You can also glue several rolls together to make a desk organizer for your pens, pencils, and markers. It helps keep your desk clean. To stop your wrapping paper from unrolling, just put a toilet paper roll over the end.

Even your pets can have fun. Take a roll and fold the ends to close it. Before you close it all the way, put a few small treats inside. Your cat or small dog will have fun playing with the roll and trying to get the snack out.

So, next time you have an empty toilet paper roll, don't see it as trash. See it as a free material for your next project. It’s a great way to save money, be creative, and help the environment.
